Toulmin Method

This week we learned about the Toulmin method. You may wonder what the Toulmin method is and what is comprised of. The Toulmin method is a method created by a man known as Stephen Toulmin. The Toulmin method allows you to break down and analyze a given argument and gives you a chance to look deeper and analyze your logical process. The Toulmin model is made up of three main parts. The model is comprised of Claim, Warrant, and Evidence. An example of how the Toulmin method has been used online is the Speaking Intensive Program through University of Mary Washington. There is a perfect example of the Toulmin Argument Model. There are lots of handouts as well that are more informative.
